Utilizing mixed methods to shape the user experience

There’s no perfect study answer every PM or leadership question. Throughout my career, I’ve deepened my quantitative skillset to bolster answers at scale, while I continue to perfect the art of understanding user motivations and pain points to get the qualitative “why.”

I view mixing methods of research helps meet problems from the macro and the micro: what are users doing broadly, and why might they be doing that. Although this isn’t always the ideal solution, as time and scope dictate, having a seat at the table early often helps solve 50% of the issues; that PMs aren’t asking for validation after a solution has been created, but want to triangulate with research to get ahead of “research as a setback.”
